In the past few years we at the Department of Paediatric Cardiology and Congenital Cardiac Defects have successfully organised clinics in which internationally recognised specialists provide information on special topics and advise patients with congenital heart defects and their relatives:
In the Marfan clinic, patients of Prof. Dr. Dr. H. Kaemmerer with this suspected diagnosis or another connective tissue disorder receive medical care. We try to arrange a close cooperation with specialists and specialist hospitals in Munich and we coordinate a time schedule.
The Genetic clinic is held by Dr. Heide Seidel from the Genetic Institute of the LMU Munich. With a referral from your physician, you will have the opportunity to ask questions or discuss problems in relation to existing chromosomal anomalies with regard to characteristics, incidence, risk and prognosis.
The Clinic for Foetal Echocardiography in the Department of Paediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Defects is held by Prof. Dr. Renate Oberhoffer from the mother-child centre in Rechts der Isar Hospital of the Technical University of Munich and Dr. Schiessl, senior physician at the I. University Gynaecology Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich.
If abnormalities of the foetal heart are discovered by a prenatal screening procedure, this special examination, including 3D reconstruction of the heart can be performed with a referral from a physician after prior appointment arrangement.
The clinic for arryhthmias is held by PD Dr. Gabriele Hessling in cooperation with Dr. Michaela Horndasch.
Children and also patients of any age with congenital heart disease suffering from arrhythmias receive ambulatory medical care. If necessary we can also arrange inpatient treatment and an electrophysiology study (EP-study). We are running three EP-Labs in cooperation with the clinic for cardiology, using the newest 3D mapping systems (CARTO-merge®, NavX®).
Appointments can be made by calling +49 (89) 1218-3005. Please bring a referral from your GP or specialist.
